Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall have a lot of love for King Charles III.
According to body language expert Darren Stanton, the couple’s appearance at Royal Ascot showed how close they are with the leader of England.
Zara and Mike’s ‘deep affection’ for Charles
During the annual gathering, Zara and Mike warmly greeted Charles and Queen Camilla.
“Zara clearly has a fantastic relationship with the King. She can’t give him a proper hug because of her hat, but she rests a hand on his arm and he reciprocates,” the specialist pointed out on behalf of Betfair Casino.
“Then, as they walk off, she rubs his arm as they walk — that is one of the most significant gestures I have seen in all my time analyzing the royals,” he continued. “It’s a real gesture of deep affection and care. It is almost protective, which seems a strange feeling to have towards a King, but it shows how close their relationship is. He isn’t just the King to Zara, but also her uncle, who is slightly older now and she wants to be caring and protective. It is wonderful to see and really significant.”
Mike’s ‘incredibly close relationship’ with Charles
Although the rugby player married into The Firm, it’s clear that His Majesty sees Mike as one of their own.
“What is also very interesting is that Mike Tindall made the same gesture when greeting the King. It shows that he shares this incredibly close relationship with the King,” Stanton said.
“It also shows the King’s great sense of humor. Before the stroke on the arm, Mike drops something as he bows to the King and Charles clearly teases him about it,” he continued. “The King points at what Mike drops and says something which draws a proper laugh from Mike.”
Zara is a ‘very popular’ member of the family
While Princess Anne‘s daughter and her husband aren’t working members of the institution, they are beloved by many high-up members of the family.

“Zara has been very popular. You’ll see her at Royal Ascot, you’ll see her doing her own thing,” expert Robert Jobson told HELLO!.
“I do think that it’s about money. The ones who are working are on the payroll,” he continued. “I don’t think that’s going to be the case in terms of the unofficial side of things. I think it’ll be very much more informal.”
Zara and Mike nearly left England
When rumors swirled that Zara and Mike were considering leaving the U.K. for Australia, a source claimed their relatives were devastated.

“When the idea was discussed seriously during a sit-down, it drew blank faces and teary eyes from several members of the family,” the source told Daily Express.
“It became instantly clear that it wasn’t a move that could ever become permanent. Longer periods of time will be spent in Australia instead,” the insider claimed.
Zara and Mike were praised for their ‘loyalty’
The duo also maintains a stellar reputation with the British public.

“Their glamour, modernity and, crucially, loyalty to their royal relations bestow a positive glow back onto the Firm,” royal journalist Emily Andrews told Woman and Home.
