CTV News: The Canada Border Services Agency has seized suitcases packed with illicit substances bound for Sri Lanka at Toronto Pearson International Airport earlier this month.
In a statement to CTV News, a CBSA spokesperson said the seizure took place Sept. 3.
Border officials seized a total of 44 kilograms of hashish and 13 kilograms of cocaine.
One person was arrested and remanded to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. No details about charges or the suspect were immediately available.
“CBSA officers use a risk management approach, intelligence information, detection tools and look for indicators of deception to determine if a more in-depth examination is required,” the spokesperson said.
