Taylor Swift is celebrating former Beatle Paul McCartney’s latest milestone, calling him “eternally exceptional.”
Swift recently took to her Instagram Stories to reshare a post McCartney made on the social media platform about his new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. She wrote above the post, “Never not inspired by this eternally exceptional artist.”
Swift’s Story followed McCartney drawing parallels between her global stardom and the frenzy of Beatlemania.
During a May interview with BBC Sounds, McCartney was asked if he had any advice for Swift, given that her worldwide popularity mirrors the same level of fame The Beatles and McCartney himself had once achieved.
The legend promptly replied, “You do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame, the worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had.”
However, McCartney believes the “Cruel Summer” songstress is doing just fine. “I don’t think she needs any advice. If she asked for it, I definitely would because I’m like the older brother to that generation, or more like the grandad, actually,” he said.
The music icon went on to share that he has previously interacted with Swift, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter, among other big-name musicians, at a party hosted by his wife, Nancy Shevell, and daughter Stella.
Speaking of the new-generation pop stars, McCartney said, “They’re really cool people, they’re very good… I like their voices. If they need any advice, yeah, I would be happy to give it, but I don’t think they do.”
Swift and McCartney have a long history of supporting each other.
In 2020, Swift announced the surprise release of Evermore for December 11, the same day Paul McCartney had originally planned to release McCartney III. McCartney later postponed his album by one week, saying he wanted to avoid the overlap.
That same year, the duo sat down for a candid conversation for Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” issue.
McCartney also attended Swift’s Eras Tour at London’s Wembley Stadium in June 2024. He was reportedly seen throwing his arms in the air as he walked to his seat in the VIP tent at the venue. Greeted by numerous Swifties at the event, McCartney even accepted friendship bracelets from the crowd.
