Shania Twain‘s newest concert wardrobe is drawing ruthless comparisons to Madonna‘s looks, with critics claiming both music icons — who are in their 60s — are trying to grab attention with their daring stage costumes, Wonderwall.com can report.
The country-pop icon, 60, has worn a series of headline-making designer outfits while opening for Harry Styles during his 12-date London concert run at Wembley Stadium. She’s even been branded a “mess” by some critics who’ve speculated she could be sharing a stylist with the 67-year-old Queen of Pop.
A costume close call
Twain tapped Dolce & Gabbana to create her daring stage looks, which include a strapless black corset top with a keyhole cutout paired with black hot pants, a silver sequined minidress paired with knee-high black boots, and a sleeveless black lace top worn over high-waisted bottoms.
During one performance of her closing number, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” some concertgoers feared she was at risk of revealing too much as she bent her knees while belting out the hit song.
In the moment, which was captured on video, Twain’s lace skirt rose up high enough to flash the underside of her champagne-colored briefs to the crowd.
As one fan on X put it, “Shania, your twain is hanging out.”
Other commenters speculated that the Grammy winner was, as one person put it, “competing with her younger self” in the costumes.
Twain faces brutal comparisons to Madonna

Twain’s ensembles drew comparisons to looks worn by Madonna.
“Shania Twain and Madonna must share the same stylist because WHAT THE ACTUAL H*** is this mess?” one commenter on X wrote after seeing the “Any Man of Mine” singer’s finale look.
Another commenter on X wrote, “I understand the desperation on Madonna’s part. I don’t understand the desperation on Shania’s part.”
“Shania Twain, ladies and gentlemen. She has completely lost her spark and left nothing to the imagination! I think she took some tips from Madonna,” another social media user added alongside the viral video clip.
Other fans defended the country music icon even if they didn’t care for her concert outfits. “I mean, she looks way better than Madonna. Let’s be for real,” one commenter noted. Another person concurred, writing, “I agree with that. Clothes are still tacky.”
Twain celebrates her stage attire
Twain, meanwhile, has embraced the looks and celebrated her collaboration with the Italian design house.
“Here I am, living my childhood dream, feeling gorgeous and confident, stepping out on stage in such beautiful and powerful D&G looks,” the “I’m Gonna Getcha Good” songstress wrote in a June 19 Instagram post alongside a carousel of images showing off her costumes on stage and on the hanger.
Looking back at her her days growing up poor in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, she added, “Little Miss Twain didn’t have anything, and now Shania Twain is so very, very grateful for all she has. Thank you, Dolce & Gabbana. I’ve loved collaborating with you.”
Twain said she’s expressing her ‘truth’

In 2022, Twain defended a racy pose she chose for the cover art for her single “Waking Up Dreaming.”
“This is me expressing my truth. I’m comfortable in my own skin, and this is the way I am sharing that confidence,” she said at the time. “I think the best fashion is confidence, and whatever you wear — if you’re wearing it with that, it’s fashionable.”
More recently, Twain told The Independent, “I have a 60-year-old body, but I will walk on the beach in my bikini. I don’t really care if [people] are OK with it or not, right?”
Twain’s stint as Styles’ “special guest” at Wembley marks her return to a major stage more than a year after she wrapped her wildly successful “Come On Over – The Las Vegas Residency – All The Hits!” shows at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas in February 2025.
