Donald Trump endorsed Republican Saritha Komatireddy in the New York attorney general race to defeat his longtime political and legal adversary, Letitia James.
“It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Patriot, Saritha Komatireddy, who is running to be the next Attorney General of the once wonderful State of New York,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Friday, August 15.
“Between Kathy Hochul and the Most Corrupt Attorney General in the Country, Letitia James, it has gone to HELL!” he added.
Trump’s long-running feud with James
Trump and James have clashed for years over lawsuits, investigations and political battles.
James sued Trump and the Trump Organization in 2022, accusing them of inflating the value of assets on financial statements to obtain more favorable loan terms.
A judge initially ordered Trump to pay nearly $465 million, one of the largest financial penalties in New York history, but an appeals court later threw out the financial penalty.
It ruled that the massive amount violated the Constitution’s prohibition against excessive fines.
Trump has thereafter repeatedly called for her to face prosecution over allegations involving mortgage fraud, which she has denied.

Trump attacked James yet again in his endorsement post, referring to her as “Letitia ‘Peekaboo’ James” and calling her a “Complete and Total Disaster.”
He also criticized James over her failed 2026 bid, claiming she received less than 1% in polling before dropping out of the race.
Trump is backing Komatireddy
Komatireddy is a former federal prosecutor who served as chief of staff at the Drug Enforcement Administration. She also previously clerked for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Trump nominated her to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in 2020, although she ultimately did not take a seat on the court.
In his endorsement, Trump praised Komatireddy’s background and said she would focus on law enforcement, the economy, election integrity, border security and Second Amendment rights if elected attorney general.
“As your next Attorney General, Saritha Komatireddy will fight tirelessly to ensure law and order, grow our economy, champion our law enforcement and first responders, support our military and veterans, advance election integrity, keep our border secure, stop migrant crime, uphold our Constitution and defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” Trump wrote.
Komatireddy quickly welcomed the endorsement.
“I was honored to be nominated to be a federal judge by the president in 2020 and I’m honored to receive his endorsement today. I’m working hard to win the support of all New Yorkers and defeat Letitia James this November,” she wrote on X.
James is seeking reelection in November 2026 and has not publicly responded to Trump’s endorsement of Komatireddy.
