It is sort of an appropos of nothing story, other than it is very sad and I presume being prone to overthinking is always a dangerous thing in this world we inhabit.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A 23-year-old man was found dead inside his bedroom at a home in east Pattaya early on September 21 after his mother became concerned when he had not left the room for about two days. Rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon and Nongprue police were called to the house in the Khao Talo area at around 5:30 a.m. The man, identified only as 23-year-old Chaiyaphon, was found unresponsive inside his bedroom. Police also found items associated with cannabis use in the room.
His 49-year-old mother told officers that her son had been diagnosed with depression and was prone to overthinking. She said he had previously undergone treatment for drug use and had stopped using other drugs, but continued to use cannabis. According to his mother, her son had largely remained in his bedroom for about two days before his death. She said he had recently asked her several times for 20 baht to buy cannabis, but she did not give him the money. She recalled that he subsequently became upset and said that he felt his mother did not love or care about him.
The mother said she initially believed her son was simply sleeping. However, she became increasingly concerned when he did not come out to eat and food left for him remained untouched. She also noticed that the bedroom light had remained on continuously. After returning home from work on September 21, she tried calling and knocking on the bedroom door but received no response. She then asked her partner to help open the door, where they discovered her son had died.
Police from Nongprue Police Station examined the scene and are following legal procedures to establish the circumstances surrounding the death. Information about the man’s depression, cannabis use and events before his death came from his mother and has not been independently established as the cause of death.
