Natalie Harp ‘superseded’ Melania, other family members and White House staff with President Donald Trump, author says

President Donald Trump‘s executive assistant Natalie Harp has become so influential in his orbit that she has “superseded” White House staff as well as the president’s wife and family, according to biographer Michael Wolff, Wonderwall.com can report.

The Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House author’s claims come as Harp’s near-constant presence around the president continues to attract attention — and as first lady Melania Trump has made comparatively few public appearances alongside her husband during his second term.

In a recent edition of his Substack newsletter, Howl, Michael claimed Natalie’s “central presence” in Donald’s life helps explain why Melania rarely appeared alongside her husband during the 2024 presidential campaign.

“Melania, whose appearances with her husband were carefully negotiated and choreographed, would not show up if Harp was around,” the author wrote. “Since Harp was always around, Melania never was — appearing with her husband only in the last week of the campaign.”

The Daily Beast reported that its analysis found Melania appeared in public just 47 times following Donald’s January 20 inauguration in 2025 and on just 38 days during the first seven months of 2026.

Michael further claimed that outside of ceremonial events and official duties, Melania has “given up the role of wife,” adding, “Practically speaking, there is no room for her.”

The author is currently embroiled in a legal battle with the first lady — a dispute stemming from claims he made about her and convicted predator Jeffrey Epstein. Melania has denied Michael’s allegations about her and the disgraced financier.

The author also detailed what he characterized as extraordinary efforts by Natalie to remain physically close to the president.

When Donald moved his campaign operation from Palm Beach, Fla., to his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., in 2023, she was not given a room, according to Michael.

Rather than stay elsewhere, she allegedly set up a bed in the maids’ quarters before later moving into the women’s locker room because it put her even closer to the president.

“Harp superseded the White House staff and, as well, his wife and family,” Michael wrote. “Nobody got between Harp and Trump. And you only got to Trump by going through Harp.”

Natalie’s proximity to Donald has continued during his second administration. The former One America News Network host, who has worked alongside him since 2022, has become a familiar presence at the White House, on the golf course and during his travels.

In late 2024, The New York Times reported that she earned the nickname the “human printer” because she traveled with a portable printer and battery pack, allowing her to quickly give the president hard copies of news stories.

Following his 2024 election victory, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung described her as “trusted and valued” and praised her “work ethic and dedication.”

Natalie’s devotion to Donald has also been documented by Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.

In their 2026 book, Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, the journalists wrote that “Harp wrote Trump adoring letters that she left in his personal spaces, including one that read, ‘You are all that matters to me.’”

According to the book, Donald privately told staff that Natalie was the “only one who loved him as much as his wife and kids.”

He also reportedly told aides that while other staffers would eventually leave to make money elsewhere, Natalie “will never leave me.”

Michael offered his own interpretation of the relationship, claiming that while people in Donald’s orbit do not suspect an intimate relationship between the president and his aide, some believe she is “hopelessly in love” with him and determined to become what Michael called his “higher purpose bride.”

“It’s a Christian devotional relationship,” an unnamed Trump aide reportedly told Michael.

Maggie recently characterized the dynamic differently during an appearance on MS NOW’s Connect with Jacob Soboroff.

“She is sort of his binkie, for lack of a better way of putting it — his comfort blanket,” Maggie said.

The White House strongly rejected Michael’s account.

When contacted by The Daily Beast about his claims, White House spokesman Davis Ingle attacked the author personally, saying, “Michael Wolff is a professional scumbag and serial liar with s*** for brains.”

Melania’s attorney did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment.
