Millie Bobby Brown is opening up about motherhood in a way she never has before.
In a recent UNICEF video, which the organization shared on Instagram as part of its My Parenting Journey series, Brown got candid about raising her adopted daughter with her husband, Jake Bongiovi.
Brown, a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, shared, “People say they love their children. I don’t understand how that much happens in my heart. I don’t know how the feeling is so overwhelming. It’s just incomprehensible.”
The actress also revealed that there have been moments during her motherhood journey when she felt unsure and had to seek reassurance from her mother.
“They are doing something and you’re like, ‘Is that normal? Do they do that?’ And you know, I’ll call my [mom]. She’s just like my 911. ‘[Mom], did I do this? Did my siblings do this?’ And she is like, ‘Oh, that’s completely normal. They do that all the time,’” she noted.
However, Brown said that she’s left without support when she can’t reach her mother, because her mother-in-law supports and guides her “the same way” her mother does.
Brown further added that she and her baby have a strong bond. “Our love language together is food… She always wants to try what I’m having and I’m always eating what she’s having,” she noted.
Speaking of how motherhood altered her life “in a lot of ways,” Brown said, “Raising a daughter is a real responsibility. I just try to learn as much as I can and feed it into her life.”
She stated that she wants her daughter to know “nothing other than” women achieving their goals and dreams and supporting other women, which she believes “sets a standard” and teaches her daughter to not “settle for anything less.”
Brown also talked about the one parenting rule she and Bongiovi swear by: “[Taking] it one day at a time,” she said.
“Today was today and tomorrow is going to be tomorrow, and let’s just sleep,” she added of their outlook.
Bongiovi and Brown announced the arrival of their baby in a joint Instagram post in August 2025. “This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” they wrote.
