Matty Healy married his fiancée of almost two years, Gabbriette Bechtel, on Saturday, July 18, in Los Angeles.
As reported by People, the 1975 frontman, 37 and the model and musician, 28, exchanged vows at Castillo del Lago, the former Hollywood Hills estate once owned by Madonna. This comes just weeks after Healy’s alleged ex, Taylor Swift’s star-studded wedding that was held in Madison Square Garden.
The couple, who began dating in September 2023 and got engaged in June 2024, exchanged vows outdoors at the Spanish Colonial Revival mansion near the Hollywood Sign. Bechtel walked down the aisle in a white drop-waist gown with a tulle veil. She wore her long black hair in a half-up, half-down style and kept her makeup minimal for the occasion.
At the altar, Healy dipped his new wife before kissing her, as apparent from videos circulating online.
Guests at the wedding included Charli xcx, whose husband, George Daniel, plays drums in The 1975 alongside Healy. Models Alex Consani and Devon Lee Carlson also attended the ceremony.
Healy marked the milestone with a bachelor party earlier in the week. The celebration featured a performance from 9075, a tribute band dedicated to The 1975. Healy joined the group onstage, singing “The Sound” alongside a performer impersonating him before crowd surfing during a rendition of “S*x.”
Bechtel shared a glimpse of her own pre-wedding celebration when she posted photos and videos from a bachelorette trip to Las Vegas on her Instagram last month. She wore an all-white vintage Chanel blazer and matching skirt, accessorized with a fascinator, before being handcuffed and led onto a private plane by her friends.
Later in the trip, she posed with oversized balloons spelling out “Mrs. Healy” in her hotel room and danced alongside an Elvis Presley impersonator. She also kept an oversized cutout of Healy’s face with her throughout the trip, captioning one Instagram Story “Always with me.”
The “Anti Hero” hitmaker was linked to the “Girls” singer shortly after her breakup with Joe Alwyn. Fans have speculated that a large chunk of Swift’s album The Tortured Poets Society is about Healy. He was also rumored to have collaborated with Swift on 1989 (Taylor’s Version), although the reported collaboration never made the final album.
Healy and Bechtel first sparked dating rumors in September 2023. Their romance became public knowledge not long after Healy’s rumored relationship with Swift ended earlier that year. The couple confirmed their engagement in June 2024, after attending a concert by Charli xcx in New York.
The model shared a photo on Instagram of her engagement ring, a black gemstone surrounded by pavé diamonds, captioning the post “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT,” a reference to Charli xcx’s album Brat.
Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding took place on July 3 in a ceremony officiated by Adam Sandler. The pop star and the NFL tight end wore custom designs from Christian Dior Haute Couture for the celebration, which drew roughly a thousand guests, including Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran, among others.
Swift and Kelce also made a $26 million donation across 20 charities in connection with the event.
