GREER, S.C. —
A Greer, South Carolina, man is headed to prison after authorities say he was found with a suitcase of cocaine and more drugs were found in his home.
The United States Department of Justice said Gerald Larson, II, 52, has been sentenced to nearly 12 and a half years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
North Carolina Highway Patrol stopped Larson and said a K-9 alerted to the scent of drugs in his vehicle.
Law enforcement searched Larson’s car and said they found a suitcase containing 15 kilograms of cocaine.
Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations obtained a search warrant for Larson’s residence and said they found more than $419,000 and an additional 43 kilograms of cocaine.
Authorities said Larson already had numerous prior state convictions out of California for cocaine trafficking and firearms-related charges.
