Bedrocan in The Netherlands may have gone bankrupt, it doesn’t mean that Bedrolite or any of the other standardized varieties of the company will disappear.
As the Dutch Health Ministry ceased ordering from Bedrocan effectively from January 1st 2026, but failed to synchronise the legislative updates needed for the company to operate independently, the resulting regulatory gap forced Bedrocan’s Dutch entities into bankruptcy and threw the country’s world-class domestic Medicinal Cannabis Programme into crisis.
However the Erkelens family are working on a restart plan that will allow the Bedrocan varieties to survive. Hopefully this plan allows for Bedrocan to move from the old government program into an independent system in which the Bedrocan products can get into the hands of patients uninterrupted by any sort of thresholds and hiccups that they have experienced in the past.
