Ariana Grande‘s song “Like I Do” on the Petal album is part of the turning point in the tone of the album.
The 33-year-old singer appears to be embracing her own power over a man on this song and she sure is finding her confidence.
She sings on the first verse, “Keep my heels tall, my ego small, but I’m still Grande / I’m making cents off of your nonsense / All that sh-t talk keeps me well-fed / Through thick and thin, you’re so locked in / You hate to love me.”
Ariana knows her power over the man in the chorus.
She notes that the man “needs” her, because “no one f–ks you like I do.”
The second verse appears to possibly be referencing the one the media and some fans are obsessed with her.
“Stay on your mind like all the time / Yeah, you still watching from the sides / Yeah, you still, still show up first in line / Yeah, you act like all your love is mine,” she sings.
Ariana just dropped 12 songs on her new album Petal, including the title track “Petal” and the lead single “Hate That I Made You Love Me.”
