Katharine McPhee is proving a sense of humor will help a marriage go the distance — seven years into her union with David Foster.
While on a trip to London with her husband, the House Bunny actress took to Instagram Stories on the couple’s anniversary in late June to celebrate the milestone.
She shared a video from their London wedding on June 28, 2019, writing over the footage, “Happy 7 year itch baby!”
Sharing a picture from their anniversary dinner date, McPhee joked, “We still like each other. Most days.”
She also showed off a picture of a special dessert cake that was meant to say “Congratulations 7 year itch” but ended up saying “Congratulations 7 year each.”
She wrote, “7 year ‘each’ lost in translation!”
As reported by People, Foster and McPhee first met in 2006 when the Scorpion actress was an American Idol contestant, and the producer was a guest coach. However, they didn’t officially start dating until 2017, going on to tie the knot less than two years later.

While McPhee, now 42, doesn’t have any children from previous relationships, she was previously married to Nick Cokas between 2008 and 2016.
Meanwhile, Foster, now 76, has previously been married four times: to B.J. Cook from 1972 to 1981, to Rebecca Dyer from 1982 to 1986, to Linda Thompson from 1991 to 2005, and to almond mom Yolanda Hadid from 2011 to 2017.
Thanks to those previous marriages, the music industry veteran already had five children before getting involved with his fifth wife. Per People, he’s dad to Allison Jones, 54, Amy S. Foster, 51, Sara Foster, 43, Erin Foster, 40, and Jordan Foster, 37. (You may know Sara and Erin as the creators of hit Netflix show Nobody Wants This.)
As for David and Katharine, they now share son Rennie Foster, 5, born in 2021.
While in London, the Smash actress also shared a photo of herself and her husband posing on the streets of the English capital, with the caption, “Rennie’s parents 7 years later.”
You’ve probably picked up on the couple’s impressive age gap of 35 years — with three of David’s children actually being older than his wife.
But it’s clear the family doesn’t see this as a roadblock. Speaking to Kristin Cavallari on her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast recently, Sara said, “It’s not easy coming into this family. It’s not easy, and I think they’ve gotten so much, not s***, but the age difference. Everyone has an opinion about something. They’re 12 years in, and they are happy. … She’s a fully consenting lady, this is not, like, some child bride. She is in her 40s” (via Us Weekly).
