Kane Brown was rushed to the emergency room after being struck in the head by a golf ball, an accident that left him needing 23 stitches and missing a scheduled performance in Nashville.

Brown was unable to appear at the June 23 Tight End University concert, presented by Sports Illustrated and Reese’s, after the injury. During the event, former NFL players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton explained the reason for Brown’s absence.

“Kane Brown got hit with a golf ball today on the golf course; 23 stitches. He says concussion — the football guys probably don’t buy it,” Compton said, before joking, “We’re gonna do a moment of silence for Craig Kane Brown” (per People). Brown’s full name is Kane Allen Brown.

Later that day, Brown documented the aftermath of the accident through a series of Instagram Stories. One image that showed blood running down his ear was captioned, “Shot in the head by a golf ball.” He followed it with another close-up highlighting the stitches on his ear, writing, “Just a scratch.”

In a final update, Brown shared a selfie, noting, “[They] said it will prob get worse next 48 hours but I’m alive, and that’s all that matters… holy c***.”

The following morning, Brown’s wife, Katelyn Brown, shared additional details about the frightening incident in her Instagram Stories. “This wasn’t a golf ball that had been flying through the air and had been losing momentum. He was right off the side from it. It could have been so much worse,” she wrote.

Katelyn added that Kane underwent CT scans, and it was confirmed that he had no internal injuries or skull fractures. According to her, he suffered only a minor concussion. “We were so relieved,” she concluded.

The golf course accident comes only months after Kane reflected on a costly business decision from the early days of his music career. Speaking on “The BobbyCast” in March, the singer recalled signing a 50/50 agreement when he was still trying to break into the industry.

“I was just so excited to get signed that I couldn’t wait… So I just signed a 50/50 deal,” Kane said (per People). As his music began gaining traction, several record labels expressed interest. However, because of the agreement he had already signed, he said his only option was to move forward with Sony.

Although he chose not to identify the individual he signed the deal with, he estimated the agreement ultimately cost him around $10 million. Despite that setback, Kane said he has no regrets because the opportunity led him to meet Katelyn, whom he married in 2018 and shares three children with.

“If I wouldn’t have signed with [the said individual], I wouldn’t have my family. I wouldn’t know my wife. I wouldn’t have my kids. She used to work with him. He introduced us,” he said.
