Joey King and Maisie Williams are getting ready to bring a new generation of witches to the big screen in Practical Magic 2!
The actresses appeared together at the 2026 Teen Vogue Fest, where they sat down with Vogue Head of Editorial Content Chloe Malle for a panel discussion about the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved 1998 cult classic and what it was like working alongside returning stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
Joey and Maisie play Sally Owens’ grown daughters, Kylie and Antonia, who begin discovering their family’s magical legacy nearly 30 years after the events of the original film.
“It was a little bit terrifying, only because you want to be on your A-game and are working with legends,” Maisie said of acting opposite Sandra and Nicole. “You never stop learning and growing from people you work with, so getting to learn and grow from Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman was fun and a little overwhelming.”
Joey admitted she didn’t see the original Practical Magic until she was around nine or ten years old.
“I was really scared,” she recalled, adding that the movie eventually became one of her favorites to revisit. Maisie shared that she first watched the film with her mom, and it still reminds her of her childhood.
The actresses also revealed that Sandra and Nicole have been incredibly supportive on set. According to Joey and Maisie, the Oscar-winning actresses encouraged them to continue growing into leading ladies and producers, and even keep a Practical Magic 2 group chat where they cheer on their younger co-stars.
Practical Magic 2 is set to hit theaters on September 18, 2026.
