Jimmy Fallon drops series of jokes about former President Joe Biden’s age following announcement of upcoming memoir

Late-night host Jimmy Fallon took aim at former President Joe Biden on a recent episode of The Tonight Show after Biden announced he will publish a memoir later this year detailing his presidency and his decision to end his 2024 reelection campaign.

The memoir, Promise Me, America, is scheduled for release on November 17 — roughly two weeks after the 2026 midterm elections. According to the book’s announcement, it will recount Biden’s time in office and explain the “deeply agonizing calculation” behind his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.

Fallon opened his monologue by displaying the book’s cover before launching into a series of jokes about the former president.

“The book was written by a ghostwriter: Joe Biden,” he joked.

“It’s the second book Biden has written. The first was The Odyssey,” he continued, getting a laugh from his in-studio audience.

Fallon also mocked the memoir’s length, suggesting it focused only on what Biden could remember from his presidency.

“So it’s three pages,” he joked.

He then brought former Vice President Kamala Harris into the bit, quipping, “It’s kind of a strange book because toward the end, it starts being written by Kamala Harris.”

Fox News Digital reported it contacted representatives for Biden seeking comment on Fallon’s remarks but did not immediately receive a response.

Joe Biden said his cancer treatment has been going ‘really well.’ By: MEGA

In a video posted on X announcing the memoir, Biden said he continues to receive treatment following his cancer diagnosis and that it has been going “really well.”

“It’s about the challenges we face as a nation and about the decisions I made and why I made them, leading the country through COVID, rebuilding our economy and restoring our democracy after the attack on January 6, ending our nation’s longest war in Afghanistan, strengthening NATO and supporting Ukraine,” Biden said of his memoir.

Former Democratic fundraiser Lindy Li criticized the memoir, arguing it will revive internal party divisions over Biden’s decision to seek reelection despite concerns about his age and cognitive performance.

“They’re thinking, ‘Why can’t you just shut the f*** up?’ Prior to me leaving the party, they wanted nothing to do with this guy. It was so bad that when, finally, Biden exited on July 21, there was no goodbye party other than a staffer one in the Rose Garden. There was nothing,” Li said.
