Jennifer Love Hewitt is giving fans what they asked for.
The 47-year-old actress showed off her new hair color for Season 10 of ABC’s 9-1-1 in an Instagram video. In the clip, Hewitt smiles as she runs her hands through her golden locks.
“Season 10 hair ready! Let’s go!” she wrote, tagging her team at Nine Zero One salon in Los Angeles.
Going blonde
In an Instagram Story alongside colorist Nikki Lee, Hewitt said the switch came after fans specifically requested she stick with the light shade she wore during the show’s April hiatus.
“We’re keeping the blond — we heard you guys,” she said.
Her character, dispatcher Maddie Han, has now worn three different hair colors. Hewitt, a natural brunette, went copper in May 2025 with a shade Lee named “Sunset Lover.”
She showed off the red look that July at the Los Angeles premiere of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Fans approve of the change
Fans were happy to see she took their feedback into account, with one writing, “Gorgeous then, super gorgeous now.”
Another added, “You can do no wrong. You’re a bad***,” while a third wrote, “You can literally pull off every color.”
Some were speculating about what the new hair might mean for Maddie’s storyline next season. “Season 10 Maddie walking in like she’s about to solve three cases and emotionally wreck us in one episode,” one person joked.
They could be onto something. In the Season 9 finale, Maddie was promoted at the call center, filling in for her boss, Sue, who was recovering from a stroke. Viewers won’t have to wait too long to find out what’s next as 9-1-1 returns this fall on ABC.
Body image
While Hewitt is happy to talk about her hair, another topic is a little more sensitive. After starring in the 1990s slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer, the actress was frequently objectified in the media.
In July 2025, she admitted that the constant focus on her body over the years still leaves her feeling “insecure.”
“It bothers me more now than it did at that age because I was in it,” Hewitt told Vulture. “Before I even knew what s** was, I was a s** symbol. I still don’t know that I have that fully defined for myself because it started so weird.”

Hewitt said she became more self-conscious about her body in 2007.
At the time, paparazzi photos of her wearing a bikini during a vacation with then-fiancé Ross McCall were published alongside the headline “Stop Calling Me Fat!”
“I was having the time of my life. I had made up the dumbest song about eating snacks and playing in the ocean, and I was singing it to my boyfriend out loud, doing some weird dance move, and they got the picture, and then it was on the cover,” she recalled.
Hewitt said reading the headline was crushing. “I don’t think I was ever really insecure until that cover. And then when it happened, I don’t know that I’ve ever recovered from it.”
When asked why the photos still bring up those feelings, Hewitt said, “Because that was me. I think that’s why the insecurity carried on. I don’t know if I’ve even ever put that together for myself other than right now.”
