Armed Robbery of Medical Cannabis in the Thames Valley – please read.
I wouldn’t usually post about an operational matter but this is the best way to reach contacts in the medical cannabis industry – quickly. This is important and the industry needs to be aware.
Thames Valley Police are currently investigating the armed robbery of a lorry containing medical cannabis. This occurred over the weekend in Berkshire and the lorry was parked up in a lay-by. A firearm was brandished and the driver assaulted. This was a serious and very concerning offence.
I will not go into further details here. If clinics or suppliers have suffered similar offences, whether reported to the police or not, please let me know. Patterns are critical to these type of investigations.
And please be aware of this offending and ensure that necessary and sensible precautions are now being taken.
Full details need to be ascertained. But having spent many years tackling organised crime these offences are rarely opportunistic- they require prior intelligence, planning and the involvement of multiple criminal actors.
