Every Year After is just days away from debuting, and the showrunner is already talking about the show’s future.
Prime Video has not renewed the upcoming series, based off the novel “Every Summer After” by Carley Fortune, but there’s already a plan for it to keep going, according to series co-creator and showrunner Amy B Harris.
Amy B Harris has a five-season for Every Year After
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the series premiere, showrunner Amy B Harris expressed she sees it going on for five seasons.
“Obviously, there’s another book that’s connected to Barry’s Bay that I think will be a very exciting blueprint for us for a potential season 2.”
The other book in question is “One Golden Summer,” a companion book to Carley‘s “Every Summer After,” which centers on Sam’s brother Charlie has he finds love.
However, Amy is looking beyond the books!
“We have these six main characters, and I think we’ll be adding characters as the seasons go on. I really see this as a series, and it’s why we built it the way we did so that we can come back and explore a lot more romance,” she said. “We have lots more to say both about Percy and Sam’s love story, but also about these other characters who hopefully people will come to love as much as they do Percy and Sam.”
Should Every Year After get picked up for a second season, it could follow in the footsteps of other recent book to screen adaptations centering on a different book for their second seasons – Off Campus and Heated Rivalry.
