Fans left waiting as Lil Wayne is no-show for concert meant to mark the start of his tour

Lil Wayne did not perform at his July 1 concert at Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, Maine, the opening night of his 20 Years of Carter Classics Tour.

Bangor Daily News reported that the hip-hop star was expected to begin his performance at 10:45 p.m. However, the crowd was informed at 11 p.m. that the show was over.

Speaking to local news station WABI, fan Rita Sack expressed her disappointment: “Well, I came here for Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz and it was the most terrible experience.”

Sack complained that she and her group “drove over six hours” from Nova Scotia to attend the concert.

“We paid for Lil Wayne,” she added. “The least you can do is come out for a minute, apologize, you know? Like, just take the moment and be like, ‘Hey guys, sorry, not feeling it, feeling a little sick.’”

Sack stressed that it was never about the money but the experience and memories they had hoped to make. “My friend left her six-month-old baby for the first time. It’s people’s time. Just don’t waste people’s time,” she added.

Another fan of the “Let It All Work Out” singer, Makayla Sullivan, traveled from Rhode Island to attend the Maine concert. Sullivan has a tattoo of the performer’s face on her torso.

Having attended nearly 50 of his concerts, Sullivan said she assumed he was simply running late because “usually he’s always late.” This time, however, the show never happened.

She added, “And I kept telling my friends, ‘He’s coming, he’s coming.’” But despite the outcome, the passionate fan assured, “Oh, I’m a ride or die. I’m going to see him in New Hampshire on Friday. Maybe he’ll show up.”

Only the rapper’s scheduled opening act, 2 Chainz and a DJ performed at the concert.

Lil Wayne later took to social media to announce that the Bangor show had been rescheduled for July 28. Tickets purchased for the July 1 show will remain valid for the new date and additional information will be emailed to ticket holders.

On his Instagram Stories, he also wrote: “I ain’t shit without you. I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve.”
