‘Elle’ Honors James Van Der Beek in Final Onscreen Role Before His Death – Just Jared – Celebrity News and Gossip

Elle is honoring the late James Van Der Beek.

The Dawson’s Creek actor died in February at the age of 48 following a battle with colorectal cancer, months before the Legally Blonde prequel series premiered in July. His recurring role as Dean Wilson, the school district superintendent who was also running for mayor, marks James‘ final onscreen role before his death.

After James‘ first appearance in the third episode, titled “You’re Not the Girl I Thought You Were,” the Prime Video series paid tribute to the actor.

Ahead of the episode’s end credits, a title card appeared on screen that read, “In loving memory of James Van Der Beek.”

Back in March, James‘ wife Kimberly Van Der Beek paid tribute to her late husband on his first posthumous birthday.

Season one of Elle is available for streaming on Prime Video now. The series has already been renewed for a second season and filming is currently underway.
