MIchael Gaman posted this little nugget in the last 24 hours.
BTW that phrase “community standards’ is the epitomy of Orwellian doublespeak. .. what community, who decides what the “community” is or thinks.
About 6 months ago i eventually got thrown off facebook for saying that Bovino characte is/was a dickhead and if he dressed like Mussolini he should suffer a similar fate all i can say is that i’m glad that community standards excluded me from whatever it is that meta is because my life is freer and cannabis dispenasries should think in the same way, don’t become slaves to these behmoths there’s plenty of other ways to do life and business.
Claude Code BANNED this cannabis dispensary’s Meta ad account.
It generated copy, optimized targeting, adjusted bids automatically.
For about 2 weeks it looked like the future of cannabis marketing.
Then Meta flagged the account and NUKED it.
Ad history, creative library, retargeting pool, one of their only working acquisition channels, gone overnight. No appeal.
This is the post everyone’s sharing this week. In cannabis it’s even worse than in e-commerce, because your account was already running on borrowed compliance grace.
Here’s why connecting Claude Code (or any LLM) straight to your cannabis Meta ad account gets you banned faster than a generic e-commerce brand:
1/ Meta cannabis compliance filters are stricter than generic ad policies.
Off-the-shelf AI writes copy that scores well for engagement. It doesn’t know that “buy,” “flower,” and “gummy” trigger differently in cannabis. Every violation stacks against your account.
2/ Automated bid changes at machine frequency look identical to click-fraud patterns.
Meta’s system can’t tell your assistant from a bot network. It bans first, asks questions never.
3/ AI-generated creative can’t self-audit for cannabis compliance.
The copy an LLM optimizes for click-through is often the copy Meta rejects fastest. You’re paying to teach the algorithm both directions at once.
4/ Cannabis ad accounts flagged for automated violations rarely come back.
Appeals take weeks and almost never land. Every restart begins at Meta’s lowest billing trust. Your account starts from $10.
Lesson in there.
