Catalan Government demands harsher penalties for the mass trafficking of cannabis

The councilor of Interior and Public Security of the Generalitat, Núria Parlon, has reiterated her request to increase prison sentences for crimes linked to large-scale marijuana trafficking and to intensify the offensive against organized crime.

According to a statement from the Govern released this Friday, this position is reinforced after the information from the Mossos d’Esquadra about the arrest, on October 1, of 7 men aged between 29 and 55 for their alleged involvement in the dismantling of a warehouse intended for the storage and distribution of 8,025 kilos of hashish in Cabanes (Girona).

“The fight against drug trafficking must also act against the logistical and economic structures that sustain it. The identification of infrastructures, the monitoring of the investigated groups, and police cooperation are key,” Parlon has stated.
