Casa Amor bombshell Alannah Keyser is no longer part of Love Island USA season eight. A resurfaced video allegedly showing her using a racial slur prompted her departure from the Peacock dating series.
Peacock confirmed that Keyser’s time on the show ended after the June 25 broadcast, which marked episode 20 of the season. Viewers saw Keyser in that episode before the show briefly addressed her departure.
According to reports, the video and related social media content that sparked the backlash did not become publicly available until after Keyser had already joined the cast. Keyser, a student from Miami, entered the villa during June 21’s episode 17 as one of the six new Casa Amor bombshells the show introduced.
Her removal marks the second casting-related controversy involving season eight. Before the season premiered on June 2, contestant Vasana Montgomery was dropped after videos of her using the N-word surfaced online. Following her removal, Montgomery issued a public apology on her Instagram Stories, taking responsibility for her actions.
“In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry. I am embarrassed and disappointed by my words. I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people,” Montgomery’s statement read, in part (per The Hollywood Reporter).
The latest incident continues a pattern that has affected the franchise in recent years. During season seven, Yulissa Escobar was removed early in the competition after clips of her using the N-word resurfaced. Later that same season, Cierra Ortega was also booted after being bashed for a social media post in which she used a racial slur.
Despite repeated controversies surrounding its participants’ past online activity, Love Island USA has remained one of Peacock’s biggest streaming successes. The platform previously announced that the opening three days of season eight generated 824 million viewing minutes, setting a new record for a Peacock original over that time frame.
Love Island USA season eight is hosted by Ariana Madix, with Iain Stirling serving as narrator. New episodes stream Thursdays through Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
