‘Already Gone’ Lyrics: Orville Peck Sings About Going to Rehab In Latest Single From New Album ‘Mule’

Orville Peck is chronicling his journey to rehab in his latest single, “Already Gone.”

The 38-year-old musician’s new song is “one of the most rowdy songs” from his upcoming album, Mule, which is a candid, chronological account of his journey through addiction and recovery.

Along with the new single, he also released the accompanying music video, featuring a special appearance by his “How Far Will We Take It” collaborator Noah Cyrus, along with Allison Russel and Cathy Cooper, reprising their re-occurring roles as the three figments of his mind. This is their third appearance in his videos.

“‘Already Gone’ lands early in the album’s story, when I first entered the rehab facility. I accepted the decision to seek treatment but deep down I believed I didn’t have a problem. The video reflects my arrogant mindset as I picture the experience as a lighthearted musical, while in reality, I was in total crisis.” – Orville Peck

“Already Gone” was co-written by Orville and Jacob Portrait.

The music video also ends with an important message.

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988, or The Trevor Project (for LGBTQ+ youth) by texting “START” to 678-678.

In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Orville opened up about his own attempt to take his life, which led to the cancelation of his Bronco Tour in 2023.

If you missed it, Orville is also starring in the upcoming star-studded Street Fighter movie, and the trailer was recently released!
