Savannah took a break from Today on July 21 to film a full season of her upcoming Wordle game show.

She said she enjoyed her time off, adding, “It was fun, we had a little game show summer.”

Melvin had a confession for her, joking that she might not be his coanchor for much longer.

“Here’s the thing, you might not see me again. If I hit the Powerball tonight, I’m playing tonight, if I hit it, SG, it was a fun ride while it lasted.”

Savannah laughed off the joke, asking, “You’re not one of those, ‘I’ll still go to work every day?’”

Melvin said he wouldn’t be coming back to Today if he won. Savannah pointed out that a jackpot that big could change anyone’s life. “It’s $905,000,000, a lot of people are dreaming big this morning.”

The Powerball jackpot is up to an estimated $905 million after no one matched all the numbers Saturday night. The winning picks were 5, 9, 35, 54, 63 and red Powerball 7, with a 3x Power Play multiplier.

Savannah’s return to Today also comes as the investigation into her mother’s disappearance continues. It’s now been six months since Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona.

Nancy’s family last saw her on January 31, when they dropped her off at her residence. When she missed church service the following morning, her loved ones started to worry. Just before noon on February 1, they went to check on her and called the police after realizing she wasn’t there.

Investigators say there are still no suspects in the case and continue to ask the public for any information that could help.

Before the six-month mark, Savannah pleaded with her mother’s abductors to share any information that could help her family find answers.

“We have done our part and we will never stop looking for her,” she said on Instagram. “We will always ache for her and feel that hole in our hearts.”

Savannah added, “So I’m asking you, begging you to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her, tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end for all of us.”
