Donald Trump’s former National Security Advisor John Bolton predicts the president is in for ‘the worst two years’ of his life after the midterms

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton warned that President Donald Trump could face “the worst two years” of his life if Republicans lose control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.

Speaking with Maddie Hale on “The Trump Report,” Bolton said Democrats will intensify scrutiny of the Trump administration if they win either chamber — particularly the House of Representatives.

He noted that “most people think [it] is certain” that Democrats will flip the House. “The Senate is unclear at this point, but the Democrats have a shot at it, and it’s going to be unrelenting pressure by the Democrats against all aspects of Trump’s presidency,” he added.

Bolton then argued that Trump appears ill-prepared for that possibility, claiming the president “doesn’t seem to be able to focus on that.”

According to Bolton, a Democratic-controlled House will “almost certainly launch a wave of investigations and hearings” targeting the Trump administration.

“I do think that they will try across the board. Every committee in the House within its area of jurisdiction will be holding hearings,” Bolton said. “You can see that coming. I think the one issue that isn’t sort of inside the Beltway politics, the one issue that will cut through to Americans is corruption. I think everybody understands that. I think the evidence is open and notorious of what Trump and his family and others in the administration have done.”

Bolton’s comments come as political analysts continue to debate the outlook for the midterm elections. Several election experts recently predicted Democrats are favored to win the House, while control of the Senate remains less certain.

Carlos Odio, founder of Equis Research, told The New York Times that “all signs point to a Democratic House majority.”

“But there is a drag on Democrats keeping them from a larger tsunami,” he claimed.

A The Washington Post poll published earlier this month, meanwhile, suggested Republicans have narrowed Democrats’ advantage.
